I noticed your servers just timed out from about 2:00 am to 3:00 am Pacific time. That affected both tracking redirect links and the Tracking202 and Prosper202 sites themselves. What happened?

How often does something like that happen? Needless to say, if I'm running campaigns and the redirect links go nowhere, I'm losing real money. As do all of your other users. I'm still pretty new here and trying to see how reliable you are, but this is not a good start...

Hi Envision,

I'll take a look into it, didn't notice the site was down around that time and I was up. But I'll see if I locate if the server went down

I kept getting time-outs with both Safari and Firefox while the rest of the web worked just fine. That rules out a problem with my connection.

I was setting up a campaign going back and forth between my ad network and your site to copy/paste ad links and almost to the point at 2:00am, I couldn't get any new links. I kept checking redirect links and reloading pages - all timed out until I had brief intermittent access for a few minutes around 2:30. Then it timed out again until almost exactly 3:00am when everything started working properly again.

The odd timing made me think it was some scheduled maintenance task at first. Maybe some cron jobs, automatic disk defrag runs or stuff like that. But then again, you wouldn't run unannounced maintenance that spoils running campaigns, would you?

Everybody who has running campaigns should check their logs to see whether the had any click-through during that time.

Any news on this?

I'd like to know if I can trust this site or if I should look for a different solution.

Hey Envision, it is typically due to heavy load on the servers which is maxing out the database capacity, not a good situation either way its looked at. The best fix in the mean-time is to run the Prosper202 self-hosted applications so it runs on your own server and you shouldn't have any problems unless your host does.

I apologize for the down-time, but the self-hosted should give you the peace of mind that it's on your own servers, and as long as you servers are up, you should be good.

A load so heavy that it brings your servers down at 2 in the morning? I don't know... Did someone DOS you? Or do you serve mostly overseas customers that are all wildly clicking ads at that time? Does this happen more often?

Anyway, I'm gonna look into the Prosper thing, thx.

It might have been a-bunch of people trying to pull large reports at the same time which stresses out the database, the clicks are very optimized, it is generally some of the huge reports that people generate which can induce heavy load on the servers.

Does this happen more often, less, a-lot of people have been moving over to the self-hosted applications, so we have been focusing on that side improving the software over there lately!

Sure, the prosper202.com should do the trick!
