Would you like the #1 spot on Google (among the ads) or the last spot?

Silly question, isn't it? Or is it? I don't know. The question isn't rethorical.

Would you pay top dollar to always be on the top spot, or would it be better to be at spot #8 for pennies?

Software like Bidrank (bidrank.com) makes it possible to decide decide where your ad should appear. It makes automatic adjustments to your bid until you've reached your goal, whether it's #1 or #8.

I'm experimenting with this now, and hope to get back to you guys. Please share your views and experiences!

1st, some people like to say 2nd or 3rd.

But the 1st always has the highest CTR

with more CTR you'll get a better QS

you'll get lower bids, with high QS, and more traffic.

At the end of the day 1st is always the best to go for, but not if ur losing money competing for it. but if u had to chose and be profitable at them all it'd be #1 absolutely.

Were fighting for the #1 position, thats where u want to be.

It is fact that no one wants their site to appear at the bottom and wants their site to appear at the top. My conclusion is that every person must try this. If it works it really makes wonders.

My answer has to be... "it depends" and what it depends on varies base on what the campaign/offer/niche is, along with everything else and the price. Too many factors to really get into it.

I do prefer to drive good volume levels for networks and advertisers. I do prefer the top positions myself because if the good CRT, Quality Score, and CPC prices that you can get over time for the same top positions!

The CTR may be higher numerically, but google adjusts the CTR score based on what position the ad appears in. So it's not about the actual CTR number, it's about the CTR in relation to the position the ad appears.

You used to be able to game adwords by getting your ad #1 and getting a high CTR but google ended the effectiveness of that a while back.

Mapdaddy, from my experience, last position not always good.

this because if its a CPA offer, the person

might have filled in the 1st offer with the ad on the

top, went down the list and you're offering the same offer,

and don't get the sale.

The only way to know is really to use Google Conversion tracking. This requires Google Pixel to be placed on the Merchant thank you page. It takes effort, and in the end, it

could pay off, or not when you discover having done all that work, placing pixels and all, the conversion is not good due to overwhelming competition.

But that's CPA for you :)
